Demetrius helped the WBU men to a runner-up finish at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships as the Pioneers came up just four points behind Indiana Tech.

A junior from Killeen, Demetrius helped the 4x400 relay to a record time and a first-place finish, in addition to his an all-American performance in the 400. He  was joined by Tre Hinds, Keiontae Williamson and Quintaveon Poole in running a 3:08.90 in the 4x4 to set the national record also set by Wayland four years earlier. Earlier in the open quarter, Demetrius finished in fourth place with a lifetime indoor best time of 47-flat.

Coach Brian Whitlock said Demetrius, an 8-time all-American, "ran outstanding" in what he called the fastest 400 race he's seen in 15 years coaching in the NAIA.
