Free Baskets Help Eagles Past Pioneers

Edmond, Okla.---Senior guard Rishi Kakad scored 27 points, hitting seven of his nine three-point attempts, and had four assists, but it wasn't enough as the Pioneers fell 74-69 to undefeated Oklahoma Christian on Thursday evening at the Eagles' Nest.

The WBU men, who led 31-27 at the half, were good on 61.9 percent (13-of-21) of their shots from beyond the arch.  They hit two more field goals than the Eagles and seven more treys, but the home team made good on 20 of their 28 trips to the foul line compared to just four of eight by the Pioneers.

Jason Griffin, Rodrigo Silva and Johnny Terra all joined Kakad in double figure scoring.  Griffin had 13 points and a team-high seven assists, Silva added 12 points, while Terra contributed 10, along with five rebounds and three steals.

OC's Jason Taylor, the 2009 SAC Player of the Year, had 23 points and 10 rebounds in his first game back since suffering a concussion in the Eagles' quadruple overtime win against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Nov. 23.

The Pioneers (3-4, 0-3) will try to get back in the win column on Saturday at Northwestern Oklahoma State.  The Rangers lost 74-71 to Lubbock Christian on Thursday.
