Jon Hurt posted his second straight double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds in the Pioneers' 82-65 win over Oklahoma City University.
Watkins had an almost perfect day shooting the ball, hitting nine of his ten attempts from the field and all five of his free throws. While Watkins was doing all his damage inside, Hurt was punishing the Stars outside, nailing down five treys in the game.
Teddy Chambers also hit the double figure mark in scoring for the Pioneers, putting in 16 points, and Tyrone Crawford tied a career high with 10 assists.
The contest was close early with seven ties and nine lead changes in the first half. Josh Teague hit the first of his two three-pointers at the end of the period to give the Pioneers a five-point lead at the break, 38-33.
OCU scored the first basket of the second half to close to within three, but that was as close as the two-time defending NAIA Champions ever got again. A 21-10 Pioneer during a five minute stretch late in the period turned a single digit lead into a 20 point margin with 2:23 left on the clock.
The WBU men shot 58 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Stars 33-18 in the win, the 999th in school history.
