Williams' Goal Breaks Scoreless Drought

Junior Dan Williams' one timer from the right side six-and-a-half minutes into the first period of a 4-1 home loss to Eastern New Mexico broke a three-game scoreless streak by the Pioneer soccer team.

Bryan Merlos, a freshman from Conroe, got the only assist on the goal, which came after Williams snuck behind the Greyhound defense.  ENMU's Luis Castaneda got his second goal of the match less than 30 seconds later to make it 3-1, which is where it stood at the intermission.

The visitors, 5-1 on the season, picked up their final goal early in the second period on a one timer off a corner kick.

The Pioneers recorded six shots in the game.  Freshman Gerardo Espinoza had the only other shot on goal, forcing a save on his lone attempt of the contest.

Coach Shiloh Posey's banged-up squad has the next two weeks off to heal up before Sooner Athletic Conference action begins at home on Sept. 29 against Rogers State.
