OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. --- The soccer teams of Wayland Baptist continued their offensive struggles on Saturday against Oklahoma City University. The Pioneer women fell to the #20 Stars 6-0, while the men suffered a 4-0 defeat.
Senior Najuka Anderson and freshman Kathleen Stewart generated the only offense for Wayland in the women's game. Stewart put a shot on goal two minutes into the contest and 40 minutes later, Anderson recorded the only other WBU shot of the game. It also required a save by the OCU goalkeeper.
Oklahoma City scored the first goal of the contest at the three minute mark. The Stars made it 2-0 almost 16 minutes later and that is the way it was at the intermission.
In the men's game, the Stars scored two goals in each period. They outshot the WBU men 32-0 in the game, and forced Pioneer goalkeeper David Metcalfe to make ten saves, six in the first half and four more in the second.
The Wayland teams continue the Oklahoma road trip on Monday with conference games in Shawnee against St. Gregory's University.
