Pioneers Stumble at OC

Box Score

EDMOND, Okla. --- Oklahoma Christian shot 62 percent from the field and held Wayland Baptist to just 29 percent in an 82-58 victory over the Pioneers at the Eagles' Nest on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles started out hot and just got hotter as the game continued. OC made good on 59 percent of their shots in the first half and put in 64 percent in the final 20 minutes. On the other end of the court, Wayland struggled, especially in the opening period when they made good on eight of 30 attempts from the field.

After George Williams tied the score at 14 with 12:53 on the clock, the Pioneers scored only five more points the remainder of the half and went into the break trailing 35-19.

Bobby Watkins, who was held scoreless the first period, came back to finish with a double-double, recording 18 points and ten rebounds. Williams put in 17 and Nathan Harbour came off the bench to produce 14 points. The freshman from Graham, Texas, was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.

OC hit 11 three-pointers in the game. Andre Vaughn had a team-high 17 points for the Eagles, going 6-of-7 from the field, including 3-of-4 from long range.

The Pioneers (8-19, 3-17) wrap up their season this weekend with two home games against Rogers State and John Brown University.
