Westerman earns SAC Setter of Week recognition again

Wayland Baptist's Ashlyn Westerman has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Setter of the Week for the third time this season.
 
Westerman, a 5-foot-10 senior from Liberal, Kan., helped the No. 22 Pioneers to home sweeps over St. Gregory's and John Brown University, Wayland's seventh and eighth wins in a row. Westerman had 39 assists against St. Greg's and 34 against John Brown for an average of 12.17 per set. She also had 18 digs, two kills and two block-assists on the week.
 
Other conference honorees are: Kristen Macy of Oklahoma City University, Player of the Week; Meghan Irwin of OCU, Hitter of the Week; and Valerie Stetzer of Oklahoma Baptist, Libero of the Week.
 
Wayland (17-9 overall, 10-2 SAC) next plays at 7 p.m. Friday against Oklahoma City (17-9, 9-3) and at 11 a.m. Saturday against Mid-America Christian (3-22, 1-11); both of those matches are in Oklahoma City. The Pioneers return home for their final two regular-season matches on Nov. 7 against rival Oklahoma Baptist (20-10, 10-2), ranked No. 20, and Nov. 8 against Southwestern Christian (9-17, 1-11).
