A conference loss at home to Southwestern Assemblies of God University dropped Wayland from 13
th to 22
nd in this week's Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
The Pioneers (8-7), who followed their five-set loss to SAGU on Friday with a sweep of Texas Wesleyan on Saturday, slipped behind Oklahoma Baptist in the polls as the Bison (13-6) moved up from No. 18 to No. 15.
No other team in the Top 25 has seven losses. Stiff competition for a relatively young team has caused Wayland to drop from being ranked No. 3 in the preseason.
The Pioneers will be in Siloam Springs, Ark., on Friday to take on John Brown University at 7 p.m. before heading to Shawnee, Okla., to face St. Gregory's at 1 p.m. Saturday. Wayland's next home match is a non-conference battle against West Texas A&M at 7 p.m. Sept. 30.
