Box Score The Wayland Baptist men's basketball team continued its success at home and remained undefeated on Friday night in Hutcherson Center, beating the Barclay College (Kan.) Bears, 107-72.

The 12th-ranked Pioneers (3-0) were short-handed with injuries to some key players, but it didn't matter. Wayland received outstanding effort from senior
Robert Waters, who scored a career-high 37 points on 14-of-29 shooting, including 9-of-19 (two off the school record) from the 3-point line. He also dished six assists and grabbed six rebounds.

"I expect him to have a big night," Wayland coach
Ty Harrelson said. "I would take that every game of the season from him."

Also for the Pioneers, junior
Maurice Redmond continued his double-double streak, which is now up to three games after scoring 24 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Redmond also had four assists and four steals.

"Maurice was good again for us today," Harrelson said. "He's just playing fantastic basketball right now."

Jordon Johnson also recorded a double-double with a dozen points and 10 rebounds, while
Thiago Randazzo added 12 points.

Due to being short-handed, the Pioneers brought in two junior varsity players into the rotation.

"Those two guys were ready to go," Harrelson said in reference to freshmen Ashton Davis and Nic Lucero. "They both did well."

Even with the convincing win over the Bears (0-2), Harrelson still had concerns after the game.

"We were a little bit sloppy with the basketball," he said, alluding to the team's 28 turnovers (Barclay had 30). "We didn't shoot the ball well from the free-throw line. We went from shooting 87 percent (in Tuesday night's exhibition win over Eastern New Mexico) to 42 percent (5-of-12)."

Next for the Pioneers will be the Lubbock Christian Chaparrals at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 in the Hutch. The game will be an exhibition contest for Wayland and will not count toward the Pioneers' overall record.

"Our old rivalry…," Harrelson said. "Hopefully, the school will get behind us."
