Box Score Box Score PORTALES, N.M. – In the season-opening match for the Wayland Baptist men's soccer team, the Pioneers were held scoreless against Eastern New Mexico as the Greyhounds won, 3-0.

"They outplayed us, worked harder and smarter than we did," Wayland coach
Cristhian Ospina said. "I believe I came out with the wrong game plan and the guys paid for my mistakes.
"At the end of the day, this is a good game to learn from."
Ospina said he and his team will learn from their mistakes moving forward and make the proper adjustments, the most important of those being preparation.
"I take responsibility for this game," he said. "For the guys, they need to just learn from this and realize that talent is nothing without hard work. We have to learn to bounce back from this setback."
The Pioneers (0-1) had not lost to the Greyhounds (1-0) since a 4-1 defeat in the 2010 season. Wayland had won the last three of the last four meetings between the schools.
The Pioneers will look to rebound in their home-opener at 2:30 p.m. Sunday against Howard Payne. In their last meeting, the Pioneers defeated the Yellow Jackets, 3-1.
