The Pioneers (1-1), who suffered their first loss of the season to Eastern New Mexico Thursday, 3-0, found the win column against the Yellow Jackets thanks to two goals by senior
Ezequiel Amestoy. Amestoy headed the ball after a corner kick rebound in the 27th minute for his first goal to tie the score at 1-1. He then pushed the game-winner past the goalie in the 38th minute.

HPU's Reid Longabaugh scored the lone goal for HPU, giving them an early lead in the 19th minute.

The Pioneers will look to continue their success when they travel to Canyon Thursday to face West Texas A&M at 6 p.m. In the only match-up between the teams in 2012, the Buffs routed the Pioneers, 4-1.
