Volleyball again Blocking for the Cure

For the fifth consecutive year, the Wayland Baptist volleyball team is raising money for cancer research through its Block for the Cure campaign.

For every block the Pioneers record at home matches in October, beginning with Saturday's 11 a.m. match against Bacone College, the team will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society. Each year the funds have been matched by Soroptimist International of Plainview.

Last year, the WBU volleyball and football teams combined to raise a campaign record $1,583 for cancer research through Block for the Cure as well as donating gate admission and "passing the hat" at designated events in October.

Since 2013, a total of $3,263 has been donated to cancer research from WBU Athletics!

The Pioneer volleyball team hosts John Brown at 7 p.m. Friday before entertaining Bacone on Saturday morning.
