Volleyball gets right in Chickasha

Box Score CHICKASHA, Okla. – A trip to Chickasha was all Wayland Baptist needed to right the ship as the Pioneers rolled to a 25-10, 25-13, 25-12 Sooner Athletic Conference victory over University of Science of Arts of Oklahoma here Friday night.

Wayland (7-11, 6-5 SAC) had dropped its last three matches, but the Pioneers had no trouble with the Drovers.

"This evening we had a lot of kills. It was the best night of offense we've had," Wayland coach Jim Giacomazzi said. The Pioneers ended with a hitting percentage of .333.

Amber Daniel led the way with 13 kills while Mallorie Ellis had six. Daniel added five service aces to add to her SAC-leading total.

Jordan Breding finished with 13 digs while Kellie Kozak recorded three blocks.

"Our errors were way down. Hopefully that is a trend for the rest of the year," Giacomazzi said.

It was Wayland's second sweep of the season of USAO. The Pioneers won Sept. 1 when they met in Plainview, 25-11, 25-11, 25-14.

WBU will be in Oklahoma City on Saturday to take on Mid-America Christian beginning at 11 a.m. The Pioneers defeated the Evangels when they faced off in Plainview on Aug. 31, 25-20, 18-25, 25-18, 26-24.
