Daniel named SAC Attacker of Week

Wayland Baptist's Amber Daniel has been named Sooner Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week.

A 5-foot-9 sophomore left-side hitter from Lubbock (Frenship HS), Daniel helped the Pioneers to a pair of conference road wins last week over Science & Arts of Oklahoma and Mid-America Christian. She hit a career-high .571 against USAO, recording 13 kills and only one error on 21 attempts while also serving up five aces. Against MACU she recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 16 kills and 13 digs.

For the week in seven games, she hit .365 with 29 kills, 21 digs, six aces and three blocks.

Daniel, last season's SAC Freshman of the Year who this season leads the SAC in aces with 33, is the first WBU player to earn conference player-of-the-week honors in 2018. She now is eligible for NAIA Attacker of the Week.

Other SAC honorees are Baleigh Murphy of Southwestern Christian as Defender of the Week and Taylor Horton of Oklahoma City University as Setter of the Week.

The Pioneers (8-11, 7-5 SAC) are on the road again this week, taking on league-leader and 25th-ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God University at 7 p.m. Friday in Waxahachie, then Texas Wesleyan at 11 a.m. Saturday in Fort Worth.
