CHICKASHA, Okla. – Coming off back-to-back home victories, the Wayland Baptist women's soccer team took it on the chin here Saturday, falling to conference-leading Science & Arts of Oklahoma, 6-0.
Wayland (6-4-1, 2-2-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) surrendered three goals in each half against the Drovers (11-3-0, 5-0-0), who are ranked the equivalent of 30
th in the NAIA and tied atop the SAC standings with No. 9 John Brown. Thais Silva and Alicia Rey scored two goals apiece, while Emma Rice was credited with four assists.
MACU fired 26 shots, 16 of which were on-goal was WBU keeper Kanada Morita logged 10 saves. The Pioneers got off six shots, two of which were on-goal by
Reagan Cordell and
Natalie Terry.
The Pioneers are back at home Tuesday to host Mid-America Christian (7-4, 4-1) at 5 p.m. MACU, which is just ahead of Wayland in the league standings, defeated Texas Wesleyan on Saturday, 2-1.
