Mahelova SAC Setter of Week for 3rd time

Wayland Baptist's Lucie Mahelova has been selected Sooner Athletic Conference Setter of the Week.

A grad student from Znojmo, Czech Republic, Mahelova turned in a pair of solid performances in conference matches against Oklahoma-Panhandle State on the road and John Brown at home.

Mahelova recorded 53 assists in the four-set setback against the Aggies, averaging 13.25 assists per set, and 31 assists (12.0 aps) in the three-game match against JBU, which saw her sit out toward the end to allow for substitutions. She also logged 20 total digs and six block-assists of the week.

Mahelova ranks first in the SAC and seventh in the NAIA in assists per set, averaging 11.36.

This marks the third time this season Mahelova has been honored by the SAC.

The Pioneers (20-6, 13-3 SAC) are in action at 7 p.m. today in a non-conference match at Lubbock Christian. Wayland, currently tied for second in the SAC, then plays a key match at 6 p.m. Friday in Fort Worth against first-place Texas Wesleyan (20-5, 15-2).

Wayland is ranked the equivalent of 28^th in the NAIA while TXWES is the equivalent of 36^th. The Pioneers defeated the Lady Rams when they met in Plainview on Sept. 25, 25-16, 25-13, 14-25, 26-24.
