Kozak named SAC Defender of Week

A week after being recognized as Sooner Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week for the second time this season, Wayland Baptist's Kellie Kozak is being honored as SAC Defender of the Week.
 
Kozak was honored for a pair of tremendous blocking performances on the road, first against Texas Wesleyan but especially against Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
 
Combined, Kozak put up 15 total blocks in the two matches, along with 12 kills, three digs, two assists and an ace.
 
In a three-set win over SAGU, Kozak ended with a career-high 10 blocks – one solo and nine block-assists. The nine assists were one shy of the team record as the Pioneers recorded a season-high 16 total blocks, including 28 block-assists with two solo stuffs. Kozak also tied for the team lead with seven kills with no assists while hitting .538.
 
Against TXWES, Kozak had one solo and four block-assists to go with five kills.
 
Kozak, a 6-foot senior middle-hitter from Ituna, Saskatchewan, Canada, ranks 20^th in the NAIA in hitting percentage (.331) and 39^th in blocks per game (1.05).
