OKLAHOMA CITY – They hoped to hand Oklahoma City University its first Sooner Athletic Conference loss, but the Wayland Baptist men's soccer team took it on the chin and fell to the Stars at Brian Harvey Field here Saturday afternoon, 4-0.
OCU (10-2, 4-0) won its fifth straight by scoring twice in each half. Four different Stars put the ball in the net.
Coming off a 4-1 victory Tuesday over Oklahoma-Panhandle State, WBU (4-6-1, 1-3) was shut out for the third time in four outings. The Pioneers had only one fewer shot than the Stars, 12-11, but while put nine of their shots on-goal, only two of Wayland's were on-target.
Nine different players took shots for Wayland.
The Pioneers cap a three-match road swing at 5:30 p.m. Friday in McPherson, Kan., against Central Christian (6-3-3, 0-2-1), which defeated OPSU at home Saturday, 2-0.
