McPHERSON, Kan. – Wayland Baptist posted its best offensive and defensive efforts of the season here Saturday afternoon as the Flying Queens rolled over Central Christian (Kan.) in Sooner Athletic Conference play, 98-30.
Jenna Cooper-Jackson poured in a season-high 34 points as 13 Flying Queens scored in the lopsided win over the winless Lady Tigers (0-11, 0-7 SAC).
Playing for the first time since knocking off No. 16 Mid-America Christian a week earlier, Wayland (7-4, 3-2) led 22-7 after the first quarter and 40-14 at halftime before outscoring the home team 31-11 in the third. The Queens' largest lead was the final margin, 68 points.
"I challenged them at halftime to make the second half worthwhile for our team. 'Let's go out and execute our style of play and do everything that is within our control to get better as a team.' I believe they did that and I'm proud of their effort to stay strong and in a team mindset in the third and fourth quarters," Wayland coach

It was WBU's most-lopsided win since beating Bacone (Okla.) by 87 points, 113-26, during the 2018-19 season. The Queens' largest winning-margin ever was 103 points in a 130-27 win over Texas Lutheran in 1977-78.
Jackson's 34 points came on 15-of-26 shooting, including 4-of-9 3-pointers. She also logged eight rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
Kynnan Shields ended with 11 points while
Manuella Donmeza got a season-best nine.
Taylor Houston pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds while
Kaitlyn Edgemon got 11 boards to go with seven points and six assists. Marchelle Bowded tacked on eight point and
Ellie Bruffey seven.
Megan Nestor logged seven rebounds.
Central Christian shot just 18 percent (11-of-61) from the field, making only 4-of-40 (10 percent) 3-pointers.
The Queens are back in action at 2 p.m. Monday at Langston (9-2, 4-1), which knocked off Oklahoma-Panhandle State on Saturday, 66-56. WBU then plays at OPSU at 6 p.m. Thursday in its final contest of 2022.
