Chickasha, Okla. – The Wayland Baptist women's volleyball team used a strong offensive performance by
Fade Ogunbade and a solid defensive game from
Selma Sutaj and
Brenna Daniel to take a 3-0 win over Science & Arts Saturday afternoon at Drover Fieldhouse in Chickasha, Okla.
At the beginning of the first set, the Drovers looked to take command of the set when they grabbed a 15-12 lead before the Pioneers took the lead in the set with a kill by Sutaj that gave Wayland an 18-17 lead. After the Drover evened the set at 18-18, Wayland outscored Science & Arts 7-3 to win the first set 25-21.
The second set went back and forth before the Pioneers broke free after a 9-9 tie to take a 25-25 victory to give Wayland a 2-0 advantage. Wayland had an outstanding hitting percentage in the set as they swung for a .324 percentage.
The third set was tight in the early goings before the Pioneers broke free midway through the set to take a 13-7 lead as they never looked back to take the set 25-18 and get the match win 3-0.
