Wayland Baptist's
Cole Rubac,
Zachary Shanklin and
Alex Spencer have been named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District NAIA Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team®, selected by College Sports Communicators.
The CSC Academic All-District Team® recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the
diamond and in the classroom.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games. Pitchers must have at least 10.0 innings pitched. No student-athlete is eligible until he has completed one full calendar year at his current institution and been on a college roster in that sport for two years. In the cases of transfers, graduate students, and two-year college graduates, student-athletes must have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution.
Both Spencer, a computer science major from Lubbock, and Rubac, a business administration major from Mansfield, are senior distance runners who also earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors in cross country and track & field. Shanklin, a sophomore from Katy, is a business administration major specializing in human resource management.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 29.
