Goodwell, OK – The Pioneers continued their hot streak as they defeated Oklahoma Panhandle State 2-0 Saturday. Wayland is 3-0-2 in their last five games and have moved into fourth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings.
Jamol Williams scored his 11
th goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 37
th minute to put the Pioneers up 1-0.
The contest remained a one goal game until the 80
th minute, when
Dario Catalan scored a goal with an assist from
Francis Motsi.
Alex Neri and the entire Pioneer defense continue to be outstanding. The win at OPSU was the second consecutive shutout. The Pioneers have only allowed two goals in the five-game unbeaten streak.
Wayland's season record now stands at 8-4-2, and 3-1-2 in SAC play.
The Pioneers return home Thursday, October 24 as they take on 2
nd place John Brown University. The game at Hilliard Field will begin at 7:30 PM.
