Pioneers Five-Game Unbeaten Streak Comes to an End at the Hands of John Brown University

Plainview, TX – The five- game unbeaten streak came to an end Thursday evening when the John Brown University Golden Eagles came to town and came away with a 7-0 victory. The Golden Eagles, receiving votes in the latest NAIA national coaches poll, led 3-0 at halftime.

The first half was much closer than the halftime score would indicate. The first two goals by JBU came on a free kick and a penalty kick. The Pioneers were very aggressive but were unable to capitalize on several opportunities to score goals.

Wayland had eight shots on goal in the game, but could not get a shot past Golden Eagle goal keeper Adam Tebbs.

The Pioneers will recognize their seniors Saturday, October 26 when the Texas Wesleyan University Rams come to town. Senior Day ceremonies will begin just prior to the game which is scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM.
