Gallery: (10-26-2024) Men's Soccer vs Texas Wesleyan
Plainview, TX – Saturday afternoon marked the final home game of the season for the Wayland Baptist men's soccer team and they took the time to honor the seniors on Senior Day. The eight seniors who were recognized were:
Oliver Brown, Martin Wiesner,
Rashawn Davis,
Jose Colina,
Rennan Sousa,
Jorge Jaimes,
Louis Pryce and
Jamol Williams.
Following the Senior Day ceremony, the Pioneers and the Texas Wesleyan University Rams competed in a hotly contested match. Texas Wesleyan led 1-0 at halftime, but
Val Gonzalez scored a goal in the 72
nd minute to tie the game at 1-1.
Two Pioneer players received red cards in the second half and Wayland was forced to play the final 16 minutes of the game two men short. With the two man advantage, eventually the Rams were able to wear down the WBU defense and scored two late goals to come away with a 3-1 win.
The Pioneers play the final regular season game in Bethany, Oklahoma Wednesday, October 30 as they take on Southwestern Christian University with playoff seeding positioning at stake.
