Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pioneers Battle Texas Wesleyan on Senior Day

 
Plainview, TX – The Pioneers honored the six senior members of the women's soccer team prior to Saturday's game against Texas Wesleyan University as this was the final home game of the season. The team responded with one of their best performances of the year and came away with a 2-2 tie.

From the outset, the Pioneers were on the attack offensively and played aggressive defense. Hayde' Gallardo scored a goal only 1:07 into the match to give WBU a 1-0 lead. Camila Zavala had an assist on the goal. Texas Wesleyan scored in the 15th minute to tie the game and teams went into halftime tied 1-1.

Meagan Picon added a goal, with an assist from Elaina Barrientes, in the 62nd minute to give the Pioneers a 2-1 lead. The Rams were able to get a goal in the 70th minute and despite some opportunities, neither team was able to score another goal.

The six seniors who were honored Saturday morning were Hayde' Gallardo, Allison Alvarez-Garcia, Jazmyne Cooper, Elaina Barrientes, Meagan Picon and Bessy Diaz.

The final regular season game for Wayland is Wednesday, October 30 at Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma.
