Plainview, TX – The Wayland Baptist Pioneers dominated Nelson University Saturday afternoon at Hilliard Field. The Pioneers outshot the Lions 17-4 and came away with a 3-0 victory.
Jamol Williams opened the scoring in the 9
th minute as he scored his eighth goal of the season on a penalty kick, giving Wayland a 1-0 lead. No other goals were scored in the first half.
Val Gonzalez gave the Pioneers a two goal lead with his goal in the 56
th minute.
Vito Zatikyan secured the win as he put WBU up 3-0 with his goal in the 86
th minute.
Alex Neri was outstanding in goal for the Pioneers in the shutout win and he had plenty of support from an outstanding effort by the entire Wayland defense.
The Pioneers next face the Stars from Oklahoma City University Tuesday, October 8 at 4:00 PM in Oklahoma City.
