Bethany, Oklahoma – The Pioneers faced off against Ecclesia College in the NCCAA Central Regional Tournament and came away with a dominant 9-2 win.
Wayland wasted little time taking the lead, as
Francis Motsi scored a goal at the 3:01 mark with an assist from
Edwin Wiesner.
Jamol Williams gave the Pioneers a 2-0 lead in the 11
th minute with an assist from Motsi.
Francis Motsi scored his 2
nd goal of the game to give WBU a three goal lead in the 14
th minute of play.
Ecclesia scored a goal in the 31
st minute to make the score 3-1, but
Val Gonzalez scored the 4
th goal for the Pioneers in the 42
nd minute and WBU took a 4-1 lead into the half.
Rashawn Davis assisted on the goal.
Alvaro Pineda, with an assist from
Jamol Williams, scored in the 50
th minute. In the 65
th minute,
Rashawn Davis scored a goal to extend the Pioneer lead to 6-2, with another assist from
Jamol Williams. Jamol scored his second goal of the game in the 81
st minute.
Jorge Jaimes assisted on a goal by
Diego Ibarra in the 84
th minute and
Vincent Franco gave the Pioneers their 9
th goal at the 89:33 mark.
Leading the way in the offensive onslaught were
Jamol Williams with 2 goals and 2 assists and
Francis Motsi with 2 goals and 1 assist.
Rashawn Davis finished with 1 goal and an assist.
Wayland Baptist advances to the finals and will take on Southwestern Christian Thursday, November 21 at 2:00 PM in Bethany. The winner advances to the NCCAA National Tournament.
