Kissimmee, Florida – The Wayland Baptist men's soccer team opened pool play today in the NCCAA National Championship. The 7
th seeded Pioneers played the #3 seed Judson University Eagles to a 1-1 draw. The draw gives each team 1 point.
The first half ended with a 0-0 score, as both teams played outstanding defense. Judson scored the first goal of the game in the 59
th minute to take a 1-0 lead. In the 68
th minute,
Elliott Idehen scored a goal for the Pioneers, with an assist from
Niklas Thiel, to tie the game at 1-all.
The statistics were indicative of just how close the game was. Wayland led the Eagles in shots 13-11, while Judson led in shots on goal, 6-5.
