Pioneers Drop Saturday Doubleheader at #6 USAO to Wrap Up First Sooner Athletic Conference Series in Program HIstory

Chickasha, Oklahoma – The Pioneers couldn't overcome a dominant USAO team as they fall in both games of the Saturday doubleheader. The 6th ranked University of Science and Arts (Okla.) won game 1 10-0 and game 2 12-0.

Amber Poorbaugh got the start for the Pioneers in game one, and she finished with 2.2 innings pitched, 9 runs allowed but only 4 earned runs, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts. Addy Rich threw 1.1 innings in relief, allowing 1 run, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout.

After the Pioneers went down scoreless their first two innings at the plate, the Drovers responded with 4 runs on 3 Pioneer errors in the bottom of the 2nd. Berkley Bradley led off the top of the 3rd for the Pioneers with a knock through the left side of the infield for a base hit, their only hit of the ballgame. Jadyn Fernandez advanced Bradley by a groundout, and Tiggy Rayos drew a walk to get two runners on and only one out. The Pioneers were unable to bring the runners around to score and remained down, 4-0. The Drovers got 5 runs across in the bottom of the 3rd inning to make it 9-0, and one run scratched across in the bottom of the 4th to make it 10-0. The Pioneers couldn't manufacture any offense after the top of the 3rd and fell 10-0 in game one.

After a scoreless first inning in game two, Wayland Baptist got a runner into scoring position after Berkley Bradley ripped a double to right field. Bradley was able to reach third after a groundout, but the Pioneers were unable to bring her in to score, and the game remained scoreless heading into the bottom of the 2nd. The Drovers knocked in 3 runs in their half of the 2nd inning after an RBI double and a 2 RBI single. The Drovers then made it 5-0 in the bottom of the 3rd after an RBI triple and an RBI single. 6th ranked USAO busted the game open in the bottom of the 4th with 7 runs to make it 12-0. The Pioneers loaded the bases in the top of the 5th inning, but they were unable to bring anyone in to score after an unfortunate lineout double play ended the game with a 12-0 final score.
