Plainview - The Pioneer women's soccer team fell to the Falcons of UT-Permian Basin 6-2 Thursday evening.
UTPB, an NCAA Division II school, took an early 2-0 lead but
Elaina Barrientes scored a goal in the 20th minute to cut the lead in half.
Hayde' Gallardo scored the Pioneers other goal in the 86th minute.
Wayland showed aggressivness on offense with six shots on goal out of their eight shots.
Ashley Perez had 3 shots, with 2 being on goal.
Cecilia Lopez managed 2 shots, with 1 on goal.
Camila Zavala also added a shot on goal.
Elaina Barrientes and
Hayde' Gallardo both made the most of their one shot on goal, scoring the two goals for the Pioneers.
Raelyn Stone was the starting goal keeper for WBU, but she was injured in a collision in the 12th minute and was replaced by
Ava Kent.
The next outing for the Pioneers is Saturday, September 28 when they open Sooner Athletic Conference play against Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City at 12:00 PM.
