Plainview – The Sooner Athletic Conference has announced that Wayland Baptist freshman cornerback,
Tyrone Morgan, has been named this week's SAC Football Oklahoma Ford Dealers Defensive Player of the Week.
A native of Wichita Falls, Texas, Morgan was consistently making plays on the defensive side of the ball for the Pioneers in their massive 49-44 win over Louisiana Christian on Saturday. Morgan finished the afternoon tied for a team-high with 11 tackles, three pass break-ups, and an interception.
Morgan's interception came on the Wildcat's opening possession of the second half, which instantly shifted the momentum in the Pioneers direction. The Pioneers proceeded to score that next possession to take the lead, which they would never surrender on their way to victory.
Morgan and the Pioneers will face their toughest test to date this season as
RV Ottawa University (AZ) travels to Plainview this Saturday for another huge Sooner Athletic Conference game. Kick-off is set for 4:00 PM at Bulldog Stadium.
