CRETE, Neb. --- - Over the weekend the #9 Wayland Baptist Women's wrestling team competed in the Conner Oppenheim Open at Doane University. The Pioneers had a strong showing with five finalists across the 10 weights; including three Champions and eight total placers.

Jordan Suarez (145lbs), #3
Mercy Adekuoroye (160lbs), and #14
Ambre Chevreau (180lbs) all took home first place for the Pioneers. #6
Calli Connally (103lbs),
Mariah Dillard (117lbs), and
Mattison Goss (131lbs) each finished as the runner-up in their respective divisions.
Madison Pena (131lbs) earned 4th place, #13 Aleena Navarette (124lbs) earned 3rd place, and
Leilani Sanchez (207lbs) earned fourth place to round out the top finishers for the Pioneers.
Nine Wayland wrestlers faced off against nationally ranked opponents with five being able to collect wins.
The Women's team will return to the mat on Friday, January 9
th, when they host Tarleton State here in Plainview, Texas.
