Bethany, Okla. --- After inclement weather forced this series to start three days later than expected, the Pioneers earned a split in Monday's doubleheader against the Eagles of Southwestern Christian University. The Eagles won game one by a score of 6-5, but the Pioneers bounced back and won game two, 3-1.

GAME ONE
Â
Wayland Baptist had a tough time getting the offense rolling early as they recorded just one hit over the first two innings, while Southwestern Christian rattled off five runs over the first two innings to take a commanding 5-0 lead. The Eagles would later score one more run in the bottom of the 4
th to take a 6-0 lead over the Pioneers.

The Pioneers were held scoreless until the top of the 5
th inning when
Arianna Zubia drove in the first run with an RBI single to score
Christian Moyers and make it 6-1, Eagles.
Brooklyn Araujo got another run back for the Pioneers in the top of the 6
th with an RBI double to make it 6-2.

Makayla Sanchez trimmed the Pioneer deficit to just 6-3 in the top of the 7
th with an RBI single to score Moyers once again. Zubia then brought the Pioneers to within run one after she crushed a two-run bomb to left to make it 6-5, Eagles. The Pioneer comeback would ultimately stall after two straight flyout to end the game – giving the Eagles the 6-5 win over Wayland Baptist.

Zubia had a strong game one at the plate, finishing 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Araujo went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Moyers finished 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored.

GAME TWO
Â
Wayland Baptist opened the scoring early in game two as
Makayla Sanchez made it 1-0 with an RBI double in the top of the 1
st. After a few scoreless innings, the Pioneers struck again in the top of the 4
th after
Berkley Bradley slapped an RBI single to right to score
Amber Poorbaugh to make it 2-0.

The Eagles got a run back in the bottom of the 4
th with a sacrifice fly, but that would be their only run of the game as
Adriana Armstrong kept the SCU offense at ease all game. The Pioneers scored one more run in the top of the 6
th on a sacrifice bunt from Bradley that scored
Christian Moyers to make it 3-1. Armstrong slammed the door in the 7
th and the Pioneers secured the 3-1 win.

Armstrong was outstanding as the game two starter for the Pioneers – finishing with 7 innings pitched, one run allowed, one walk, and six strikeouts. Armstrong secured the win and is now 2-2 on the season.

Bradley finished 1 for 3 with two RBIs.
Makayla Sanchez finished 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
Mikayla Carrillo went 2 for 4 with two singles and a stolen base.

th in Bethany, Oklahoma. Game one is scheduled to start at 12:00 PM, and game two will begin 30 minutes after game one.
