Fort Worth --- The Pioneers split Saturday's doubleheader at Texas Wesleyan after senior
Brooklyn Araujo played the hero with a massive go-ahead three-run home run to secure the game two win. Wayland Baptist lost 6-2 in game one, but they responded with a 4-3 victory in game two.

GAME ONE
Â
Wayland Baptist got a first inning run to begin game one after
Brooklyn Araujo drove an RBI single up the middle to score
Arianna Zubia and make it 1-0. Texas Wesleyan answered back with one run in their half of the 1
st to even the score up at 1-1. The Rams struck again for two more runs in the bottom of the 3
rd to jump ahead, 3-1.

Araujo continued to pace the Pioneer offense in the top of the 4
th after crushing a solo home run to center – her 3
rd home run of the season – to trim their deficit to 3-2.

The Rams had a big offensive output in the bottom of the 4
th with three runs on three hits to take a 6-2 lead over the Pioneers. Wayland Baptist had a few opportunities to scratch runs across later in the game, but the Rams held on for the 6-2 win.

Araujo finished 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Mikayla Carrillo went 1 for 2 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base. Zubia went 1 for 4 with a run scored.

GAME TWO
Â
Texas Wesleyan jumped ahead of the Pioneers, 2-0, in the bottom of the 2
nd after a two-run double. Wayland Baptist got a run back in the top of the 4
th after
Christian Moyers was able to scramble home on a wild pitch to make it 2-1, Rams.

Texas Wesleyan pushed their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the 4
th after a solo home run, which put the Pioneers on the brink of being four-game swept.

Araujo had other plans as she stepped to the plate in the top of the 7
th with two outs and the game on the line, and she promptly crushed a 3-run bomb to give the Pioneers a 4-3 lead in the final inning.
Adriana Armstrong slammed the door on the Rams in the 7
th and clinched the 4-3 win for the Pioneers.

Araujo continued her strong hitting weekend in game two – finishing 3 for 4 with a massive three-run home run.
Amber Poorbaugh finished 1 for 3 with a run scored.
Kailee Sanchez went 1 for 1 with a run scored.

Armstrong made the start for the Pioneers in game two, and she went all 7.0 innings, allowing three runs, four walks, and three strikeouts. Armstrong now owns a 4-5 record on the season.

The Pioneers will return home next weekend for a four-game series against Sooner Athletic Conference foe, Langston University. The two teams will meet for two doubleheaders on Friday, March 21
st and Saturday, March 22
nd. Game one of Friday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM.
