Plainview – The Pioneer softball team gave #5 ranked Oklahoma City all they wanted and more Saturday in double-header action. Game one was close until late in the game when the Stars pulled away. The Pioneers controlled game two and came away with a 4-2 victory.
Game One
Adriana Armstrong had a strong outing and #5 Oklahoma City held a slim 2-0 lead after five innings of play. The Stars scored two runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to come away with a 6-0 win.
The Pioneers managed five hits in the game, spread between these five players Ariana Zubia,
Brooklyn Araujo,
Mikayla Carrillo,
Kailee Sanchez and
Christian Moyers.
The Pioneers had the bases loaded with one out in the fourth inning, but were unable to score a run.
Game Two
The Pioneers played an errorless game behind a strong pitching performance by
Addy Rich and defeated the #5 ranked Stars 4-2 in the final game of the series. Wayland scratched out six hits, led by
Mikayla Carrillo who went two for two from the plate and scored two runs.
Brooklyn Araujo had a double while
Amber Poorbaugh had a single and drove in two runs and
Addy Rich and
Kailee Sanchez each had a single and an RBI.
Rich held the Stars scoreless until the sixth inning and retired the side in order in the seventh to secure the victory.

The Pioneers travel to Oklahoma City to face Mid-America Christian University April 18
th and 19
th for a four game series.
