Arlington, Tex. --- The Pioneers picked up a 13-1 midweek non-conference road win against the Patriots of Arlington Baptist University to begin their final road trip of the 2025 regular season.

Wayland Baptist had an all-around great day of baseball – the offense provided 13 runs of insurance, while the pitching staff only allowed one run to go along with one walk and seven strikeouts.

The Pioneers used three big offensive innings to create their separation from the Patriots, combining for 12 runs across those three innings. The damage began in the top of the 2
nd after the Pioneers jumped ahead 3-0.

After shutting the Patriots down through three innings, the Pioneer offense continued to support the pitching staff by scoring four runs in the top of the 4
th to jump ahead 7-0.

Arlington Baptist was able to score their lone run of the afternoon in the bottom of the 4
th to trim their deficit to six, but the Pioneers answered back resoundingly by scoring five more runs in the top of the 5
th to extend their lead to 12-1.

The Pioneers scored one more run in the top of the 6
th to push their lead to 13-1, and the Pioneer pitching staff took care of their business the rest of the way to secure the win.

Delvis Claudio led the Pioneers offensively by going 3 for 5 with a double, three RBIs, and a run scored.
Christian Toledo finished 3 for 3 with a triple, three RBIs, two stolen bases, a hit by pitch, a walk, and two runs scored.
Arcadio Frausto finished a perfect 4 for 4 with an RBI, a walk, and two runs scored.
Arturo Nunez went 1 for 3 with a double, two RBIs, and a run scored.

Six Pioneer pitchers combined for 9.0 innings, one run, one walk, and seven strikeouts in today's win.

Wellington Vargas was the first to toe the rubber for the Pioneers, tossing 3.0 scoreless innings with one walk and three strikeouts.
Justin Smith earned the win by following with 2.0 innings, one run allowed, no walks, and one strikeout.

Collin Arnold, and
Tyler Thompson combined for 4.0 shutout innings, no walks, and three strikeouts to slam the door on the Patriots.

The Pioneers will now travel North to Point Lookout, Missouri for a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference road tilt with the College of the Ozarks Bobcats. They will play a doubleheader on Friday, April 11
th beginning at 1:00 PM followed by a single nine-inning game on Saturday, April 12
th.
