PLAINVIEW --- Wayland Baptist softball delivered a strong all-around performance on Saturday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader against Tabor at home and continuing its early-season momentum.

Game 1: Wayland Baptist 7, Tabor 6
Wayland Baptist opened the day with a hard-fought 7–6 victory, jumping out to an early lead and holding off a late Tabor rally. The Pioneers scored three runs in the first inning behind RBI hits from
Kynleigh Kirby and
Kailee Sanchez, then added three more in the third to build a commanding 6–0 advantage.
Mikenzi Carlo sparked the offense with a two-run single in the third, while
Reagan Davis-Pena added an RBI base hit that helped Wayland seize control early.
Despite the early cushion, Tabor chipped away in the middle innings and tied the game in the top of the seventh. Wayland Baptist responded immediately in the bottom half, showing resilience and composure. After
Brooke McLaurin doubled to open the inning, the Pioneers put pressure on the defense, setting the stage for Carlo's walk-off RBI single that sealed the victory.

Brooklyn Ray earned the win in relief after navigating the final outs.

Game 2: Wayland Baptist 8, Tabor 5
The Pioneers carried their momentum into the nightcap, earning an 8–5 win to complete the sweep. After falling behind 4–3 in the fourth inning, Wayland Baptist answered immediately with two runs to reclaim the lead.
Davis-Pena and
Mikayla Carrillo delivered key run-producing plays, while timely baserunning and aggressive offense kept Tabor on its heels.
Wayland put the game away in the sixth inning with a decisive three-run surge. Carlo continued her standout day with another clutch hit, while Davis-Pena and Carrillo again contributed in run-scoring situations.
Ray closed out the final 2.2 innings in dominant fashion, allowing just one hit and striking out two to secure her second win of the day. The defense was sharp down the stretch, helping preserve the lead and finish the sweep.
