Wayland Baptist opened the day in commanding fashion, using timely hitting and a strong outing in the circle to secure a decisive 9-1 victory. After a scoreless start, the Pioneers broke through in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to take the lead. Central Christian managed to even the score in the fourth, but WBU responded immediately with a multi-run frame to regain control. From there, the Pioneers continued to build separation, adding insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
The Wayland lineup produced 14 hits in the contest, with multiple players recording multi-hit performances as the offense applied steady pressure throughout. In the circle, the Pioneers' starter delivered a composed and efficient performance, limiting Central Christian to just one run over six innings while keeping the Tigers off balance. The defensive effort behind her was equally sharp, helping secure the dominant win.
In the second game, Wayland once again showed its ability to battle back, even though the final result didn't fall in the Pioneers' favor. After the teams traded early runs, Central Christian used a four-run second inning to seize momentum and later extended its lead to 6-1. Wayland put together its best stretch of the game in the fifth inning, stringing together quality at-bats and capitalizing on opportunities to score five runs and tie the contest at 6-6. Central Christian broke through in the seventh with a three-run rally to pull back ahead and ultimately secure the split.
