Lebanon, TN – The #19 Wayland Baptist University Men's Wrestling team traveled to the Cumberland Open over the weekend. The trip allowed the Pioneers to see out of conference opponents that are not typically seen throughout the season.
The Men's Team came home with five men placing. Leading the way was Champions #15
Jesse Lewis and #9
Jaden Two Lance.
George Rodriguez and #9
Emmett Bivens brought back third place honors while Johnathon "Speedy" Ortegon claimed fourth.
When asked about the team's performance, Coach Davis said, "The Men wrestled hard this tournament. It is nice to see the work we put in the room show during the competitions."
The gentlemen have a quick turnaround before hosting McMurry University for senior night on Wednesday, February 4th. Action will begin at 6:00 pm in the Hutch Gymnasium.
