PLAINVIEW --- The Wayland Baptist Pioneers delivered an emphatic statement on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader against the University of the Southwest (N.M.) in dominant fashion at home, outscoring their opponent 30-7 across the two games.

Game 1: Wayland Baptist 12, Southwest (N.M.) 4
The Pioneers wasted no time setting the tone in the opener, erupting for seven runs over the first two innings and never looking back in a 12-4 victory.
After surrendering an early run in the top of the first, Wayland Baptist responded with a four-run bottom half highlighted by timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. The offense continued to roll in the second and third innings, building a commanding 10-2 lead.
Adonis Bernal powered the lineup, going 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs, while also scoring three times.
Christian Toledo added a strong performance with two hits, two RBIs, and three runs scored, and
Arcadio Martinez delivered a perfect day at the plate with two hits and three RBIs.
On the mound,
Caden Terry earned the win, going four innings while allowing four runs and striking out two. The bullpen duo of
Johnathon Brzezicki and
Collin Arnold shut things down late, combining for three scoreless innings to secure the victory.
Wayland Baptist's aggressive approach was evident on the basepaths, swiping multiple bags and consistently applying pressure to the Mustang defense.

Game 2: Wayland Baptist 18, Southwest (N.M.) 3
If the first game set the tone, the nightcap cemented complete dominance.
The Pioneers exploded offensively in an 18-3 rout, highlighted by a massive 15-run outburst across the second and third innings.
Adonis Bernal continued his standout day, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs.
Rafaeleduardo Garcia added a three-run homer, while
Raphael Beltre launched a three-run shot of his own as part of a three-RBI performance.
Wayland Baptist totaled 17 hits in the game, showcasing depth throughout the lineup.
Sinclair Pimentel reached base consistently, finishing with two hits, two runs, and an RBI, while multiple players contributed in a balanced offensive attack.
After a brief response from the Mustangs in the third inning, the Pioneers answered immediately with a nine-run frame that put the game out of reach.
On the mound,
Austin Cole picked up the win in relief, striking out four over 2.1 innings. The pitching staff combined for 10 strikeouts while limiting the Mustangs to just five hits.
