At Portales: Blakey served as a guard and forward at Portales High School in Portales, N.M. She was a two-time Player of the Year recipient, claiming the 3A honor as a sophomore and the 4A honor as a junior by NMpreps.com. Her sophomore season, Blakey was the New Mexico Sophomore of the Year, as she recorded 17.1 points and 6.6 rebounds a game to help Portales to a state title. Portales fell in the state title game her junior season and in the semifinals her senior season (both times to Hope Christian). Along with basketball, Blakey played volleyball and golf.
