Josh Bailey

Josh Bailey became Flying Queens assistant coach prior to the 2017-18 season. A native of Canada and a 1999 graduate of Lubbock Christian University, Bailey came to Wayland from Lubbock Trinity Christian School where he was coach and assistant athletic director. Prior to that he served as AD and basketball coach at Westbury Christian School in Houston, head women’s basketball coach at Rochester College in Rochester Hills, Mich., and AD and basketball coach at Zoe Christian Schools/Parkway Christian School in Sterling Heights, Mich.

Bailey played on a high school state championship team prior to playing basketball for four years at Lubbock Christian University. As a coach, his teams have won numerous state, conference and district championships, including two TAPPS Class 4A state titles and two runner-up titles. At the high school level he has coached two McDonald’s All-Americans and more than 35 players have gone on to play collegiately. He has logged 260 career head coaching wins.

Says Bailey, “I am a very high-energy and passionate individual. I believe that showing emotion shows people that you care. I am going to try to give my best, and in return I hope to get the same.”

Bailey and his wife, Dorene, have six daughters.
