Samantha (aka Luzette) went 7-1 in matches last week against some of the best 136-lb. competition in the country. She came from four points behind to beat the No. 4-ranked wrestler from Simon Fraser University in a season-opening home dual on Wednesday, then won six of seven matches at the Oklahoma City University Open, beating the No. 2, No. 5 and No. 9 wrestlers. “Her big win was over No. 2 Monica Ramirez, the national runner-up of Lindenwood (Mo.),” Coach Aaron Meister said of Luzette, whose only loss was to top-ranked and World Team member Alli Ragan of King (Tenn.). Meister expects Luzette to be No. 2 in the next rankings.
