Alden was named Central States Football League Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week after recording a school-record 17 tackles in Wayland’s 34-8 road win over Texas College, the Pioneers’ first back-to-back victories since restarting the program three years ago. A 5-foot-10, 200-pound sophomore linebacker from Wimberly, Mann had nine solo stop and 3½ tackles for loss and helped WBU limit the Steers to 65 yards rushing on 36 carries. Also, Texas College’s eight points were the fewest by an opponent in the last three years, bettering the previous mark of 14 from a week earlier.
