De’Vion, a sophomore from Fort Worth, was one of several track & field student-athletes who came up big at the Texas Tech Red Raider Open on Friday. Simpson finished third in the 600-yard run with a time of 1 minute, 11.14 seconds, which when converted to 600 meters translates to 1:20.23, the NAIA’s fifth-fastest time this season. Simpson also helped WBU’s 4x400 relay team to a third-place finish with a time of 3:14.53. Coach Rohan Thompson: " We had so many PRs and had some kids run times that should put them at or near the top (in the NAIA). It was just a wonderful meet."
