The WBU men’s wrestling team qualified four student-athletes for the NAIA National Championships in Topeka, Kan., with Andrew Porras, Chris Hart and Victor Thomas coming up short of their all-American goals. Porras, a junior competing in the 133-pound class, came close by winning three of his first four matches and ending one win shy of a guaranteed eighth-place finish. Hart, a senior in the 141s, was a four-time national qualifier, including an all-American as a sophomore. Thomas (149s), a junior, also was a previous all-American. Sophomore Mich Napier qualified as an alternate in 184s. The Pioneers, who posted a 12-12 record under first-year head coach Aaron Meister, were ranked the equivalent of 34th in the NAIA Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Postseason Poll.
