Tamyra Mensah was named winner of the 2016-17 Roscoe Snyder Award, recognizing her as the top senior female student-athlete at Wayland, based on athletic ability, academics and character. Mensah, of Katy, is a two-time WCWA national champion who won the U.S. Olympic Trials and almost qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. One of the most decorated student-athletes in Wayland history, Mensah most recently qualified for the 2017 U.S. Senior World Team and continues to wrestle around the world.
