Chante', a freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa, playing in her first collegiate tournament, placed third out of 48 golfers at the fall season-opening Hawks Creek Invitational in Fort Worth. Van Zyl finished 14-over at Hawks Creek Golf Course with rounds of 76-76-78. She finished six shots behind the champion. Coach Leon van Rensburg: "As a freshman and this being her first tournament in a foreign land, she did wonderfully."

Van Zyl and the Pioneers, who finished sixth at the tourney, next play Oct. 1 and 2 at the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational on the La Paloma course at Amarillo’s Tascosa Country Club.
