Gonzalo, a 5-foot-10 junior from Yecia Marcia, Spain, didn’t allow a goal in 200 minutes of play as he helped the Pioneers to a 1-0-1 week with a scoreless, double-overtime tie with Our Lady of the Lake prior to a 4-0 road win over Huston-Tillotson.
A transfer from Laredo College, Gonzalo recorded seven saves against OLLU in his first action of the season before recording five stoppers against Huston-Tillotson.
"Gonzalo was really key for us. He was very solid in goal, coming up with important saves," WBU coach Robert Ssejjemba said of Santa, who was named Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
The Pioneers (3-0-1) next host Howard Payne at 6 p.m. Tuesday at The Bowl.
