Hunter placed third to lead the Pioneers at the Sooner Athletic Conference/Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Wrestling Championships, hosted by Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville, Okla.

Competing in the 184-pound division, Hunter won his lone match before the semifinals, which he lost by tech fall. He bounced back to win his consolation semifinal by fall then prevailed in the third-place match by 3-2 decision.

The sophomore from Peoria, Ariz., then was awarded a challenge match against the second-place finisher, but Hunter came up short. Wayland nominated Hunter for an at-large bid for nationals, but that didn’t pan out.
